AI, or Artificial Intelligence, is like having a super-smart buddy that can learn, think, and problem-solve like humans do, but it’s actually a bunch of code and computers . It’s been around for a while, but it’s getting crazy advanced now – think self-driving cars, Siri, and Netflix recommendations! What’s your take on AI ? AI, or Artificial Intelligence, refers to the development of computer systems that can perform tasks typically requiring human intelligence, like learning, problem-solving, decision-making, and understanding language. It’s a broad field that includes machine learning, natural language processing, and more. Think of it like teaching computers to think and act like humans, but without the squishy brain part . As we all know, AI is the talk of the town these days. Everyone’s using it to solve questions, get information, and what not – it’s like we’re super dependent on it! And, honestly, it’s gotten to a point where we kinda can’t imagine doing stuff without AI. Take kids, for example – they use AI (Chat GPT) to finish their homework, and adults use it for, well, pretty much everything! It’s like AI’s become our go-to, first-stop solution. I personally think that back in our day, we relied more on Google for info, and only used it when we really needed to. We’d either search it up or ask someone older. But now, with AI around, it’s like everyone’s – including tiny kids – gone straight to AI for even the smallest things! Instead of asking elders or learning the hard way, people just hit AI for answers.
“AI will be either the best or worst thing ever for humanity”.
(Elon Musk)
Do you think this reliance on AI is changing how we learn or solve problems? This thing is both super beneficial and kinda risky for us. On the plus side, AI helps us learn stuff we struggle with – it’s like having a handy tool! But here’s the thing, kids these days, especially in early grades, are losing out. They’re using AI for everything, and it’s affecting their ability to problem-solve, search, and stay curious. They should be using their brains first, you know? Try it themselves, and if they get stuck, then use AI. It’s like AI’s becoming the first step instead of the last resort. I’ve been scrolling through social media and watching videos from the US, UK, China and I’ve noticed something! What’s my question here is that Kids there don’t seem to rely on AI as much. Why is that? I mean AI’s been introduced there too, and it’s popular worldwide. So what’s stopping their kids from using it like we do in Pakistan, India, and other neighbouring countries?

Our parents knew that relying on AI isn’t good for us, that’s why they restricted phone usage. But now, the younger generation – post-2025 – parents easily provide phones, unknowingly ruining their kids’ future. Parents think, “Let’s give the kid a phone, they’ll manage,” avoiding extra effort like tuition or academies or teaching by themselves . But they don’t realize it’s bringing a disaster that they can’t even imagine . like it’s making us mentally dull, you know? Whenever we’re stuck, we jump straight to AI of trying to figure it out ourselves. But we should be using our own brains first, finding solutions, struggling a bit… even if it takes time. That’s how we learn, right? AI’s great as a helper, but it shouldn’t become a crutch, right? Like, if you’re super into something and need a nudge, go for it – use AI. But for everyday stuff, we gotta try to figure it out ourselves.
Humans are indeed more powerful than AI because we created it, and it’s up to us to control it. It’s like having a super-smart tool – we need to know how to wield it without getting overwhelmed. My point about humans needed to control AI and themselves is good point . What do you think’s the biggest challenge in achieving that balance? I’ve had a similar experience. Initially, I’d solve problems on my own, whether it was university work, college assignments, or school projects. I even aced math by tackling tough problems myself, seeking help from seniors or researching on TV when needed – but I never turned to AI.
As time passed and AI became more popular, I started using it because it was convenient. Why struggle when Chat GPT or AI could provide answers easily, right? But then I hit a point where my brain felt dull. I’d struggle to think or recall info without AI. It had taken over, and I realized I needed to take control back. The thing is, I’ve seen people around me, just like me, dependent on AI. How do you think we can strike a balance and use AI without losing our thinking edge? That’s the million-dollar question! Why do kids in Western countries seem less reliant on AI, despite having access to it? Maybe it’s about parenting styles, education systems, or cultural approaches to tech?

(Melinda Gates)
In Pakistan, we need to find a balance – leveraging AI’s benefits while keeping our critical thinking sharp. Perhaps it’s about teaching kids to use AI as a tool, not a crutch? What do you think parents and schools can do to promote healthy AI use among kids ?
I have a lot of questions regarding this article and hope you’ll answer them .
Do you think this reliance on AI is changing how we learn or solve problems?

What’s your take on this AI obsession?
Where’s the fun in relying on AI for everything?
What’s your go-to strategy for balancing AI use?
What do you think AI is making us mentally dull or not ?
How do you think we can strike a balance and use AI without losing our thinking edge?
I’ve written this article based on my personal experiences and observations around me. I’m sure you’ll ensure your kids’ mental health and logical thinking capacity aren’t compromised. You’ll empower them to question and solve problems independently . We should avoid giving phones to kids in free time for games etc. Instead, give them brain-boosting games, puzzles to increase IQ. Let’s make them smarter, harder working, not dumb by excessive phone use . Regarding problem-solving, for maths, we should change values in questions, give different values, and analyze their mental capability to see how capable they are. We should keep them away from mobile AI. Secondly, we should make them practice things like English tenses at home. Instead of relying on YouTube, ChatGPT, AI for help, they should use a dictionary to find meanings, building their vocabulary. We should give kids extra books like novels, stories, dialogues, often newspapers – they have interesting stories in English and Urdu. If English, they can ask adults for hard words or underline, look up dictionary, write meanings. This boosts vocabulary . I’m sure that after reading this article, you’ll keep your kids away from this because even at university level, people are using AI too much. If given a topic, they feed it to AI, AI generates everything, and in the end, they don’t know much due to coincidences. If asked something in a presentation, they don’t know. So we should think, create our own stuff, use our brain . In Pakistan, the rate of mobile use among kids is very high. That’s why our youth is idle, and the coming youth is even more so – they’re totally dependent on mobiles. Pakistan’s future will be destroyed if this continues. We should stop our kids, make them problem-solve, think strategically, analyze – so they can tackle difficulties easily .
