Introduction:
In dreams, begins responsibility. Our responsibility begins from the power of imagine. When I imagined to write a letter to the sparrows, my responsibility had begun. Now, I shall fulfil my responsibility to the utmost of my capacity. When you joined as a sparrow, you perhaps had a dream to contribute to the society or the least had imagined to contribute back to society. At that very moment your responsibility had begun. Sparrow, or whatever name shall be given to the selfless service, it does not change the fact that the moral responsibility of an individual remains to contribute back to his society. Nova is one such mission, Sparrows are nothing but responsible individuals contributing back to the society.
What is Nova?
To put it simply to a sparrow; “Nova is an intellectual movement that aims to revive the reading culture in Pakistan and to bring together the intellectuals and policy makers at one forum to shape the policy making of the country” (and the individual at large).
Role of a Sparrow:
The sparrow is nothing but an individual who must develop his intellectual capabilities and utilize them for the greater good of the country. The role of a Sparrow is to further the intellectual movement of Nova and expand the movement at a national level through all means available to them.
How to contribute to the Movement?
It’s a very simple system. You read some books, or you refer to the book summaries of Nova on Instagram if you have yet to decide which ones to start your reading journey with or gather inspiration for reading. You develop your opinions after reading books and articles, then write your own opinions on paper, refine them into opinion articles with your critical thinking. Then you publish them on the Nova website for others to read. The opinions are read and pondered upon by others, your ideas and the ideas of others collide and get absorbed into one another. The superior intellect is developed. A policy maker reads the idea, absorbs it and practically employs it into his decision making. The whole system is designed to elevate the superior ideas after a rigorous clash of the intellect of individuals. In the whole process, each individual is transformed in his own unique way. This is how you can contribute to the movement.
Organization of Nova
Without discipline, no matter how extensive a movement, it shall not succeed to achieve its aim. Therefore, organization is important for any movement. Nova is itself an organized movement that carries a disciplined approach towards achieving its ultimate aim. It is important for a sparrow to understand the organization of its movement Although, at Nova we believe, preach and practice equality, these organizational titles are merely for the smooth functioning and effective expansion of the movement nation-wide.
Constitution of Nova:
- The constitution of Nova is a foundational document of the Nova movement. It lays down certain rules which are to be followed in letter and spirit by each member of Nova.
The Chairman:
- He is the executive head of the movement responsible for the decision making to steer the movement in the right direction. The Chairman is elected every three years by the House of Nova and is bounded by the Constitution of Nova and accountable to the House of Nova.
House of Nova:
- It is the senior legislative body of Nova responsible to devise and oversee the grand strategy of Nova. It compromises of founding members and senior Sparrows of Nova. The House of Nova is headed by the Co-chairman.
Corporate Arm:
- The Corporate Arm is headed by the finance advisor (senior sparrow). It is responsible for managing the Nova Fund, arranging donations and sponsors for our educational empowerment and awareness drives.
Mission Arm:
- The Mission Arm is headed by the Secretary General of Nova who is responsible for coordination amongst different wings to further expand the movement of Nova.
Media Wing:
- The Wing manages the social platforms of Nova and the Nova website to expand the movement at the virtual front.
Research and Analysis Wing:
- This Wing is responsible for researching and creating the book summaries, reviewing the articles and analyzing the movement’s progress to provide insights to the House of Nova for effective decision making.
Empowerment and Awareness Drives:
- Managed by the Mission Arm, Nova bring its mission of intellectual development to the grassroots level through its empowerment and awareness drives throughout the country.
The Sparrows:
- This is the intellectual hub of the movement, the members of Nova who contribute to the movement through the power of their words and further expand the movement to a national level.
Concluding Remarks:
I considered it necessary to write this letter so that each sparrow can better understand the concept of the movement, its organization and the ultimate objective of Nova, only then he/she can further expand the movement at a national level. The word “Nova” means a star that illuminates in the darkest period of night and then extinguishes near dawn. Nova, likewise will provide intellectual light in the darkness of ignorant times and then extinguish after transforming Pakistan into an intellectual society. Insha’Allah.
